<p>Feeling crabby lately? It could be you aren’t getting enough sleep. Work, household responsibilities and child care can make sleep difficult to come by. Factor in other unexpected challenges, such as financial worries, layoffs, relationship issues or an illness, and quality sleep may be even more elusive.<br />
You may not be able to control or eliminate all of the factors that interfere with your sleep, but you can create an environment and adopt habits that encourage a more restful night. Try these suggestions if you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep:</p>
<p>1. <strong>Go to bed and get up at about the same time every day, even on the weekends. </strong>Sticking to a schedule helps reinforce your body’s sleep-wake cycle and can help you fall asleep more easily at night.</p>
<p>2. <strong>Don’t eat or drink large amounts before bedtime.</strong> Eat a light dinner at least two hours before sleeping. If you’re prone to heartburn, avoid spicy or fatty foods, which can make your heartburn flare and prevent a restful sleep. Also, limit how much you drink before bed. Too much liquid can cause you to wake up repeatedly during the night for trips to the toilet.</p>
<p>3. <strong>Avoid nicotine, caffeine and alcohol in the evening</strong>. These are stimulants that can keep you awake. Smokers often experience withdrawal symptoms at night, and smoking in bed is dangerous. Avoid caffeine for eight hours before your planned bedtime. Your body doesn’t store caffeine, but it takes many hours to eliminate the stimulant and its effects. And although often believed to be a sedative, alcohol actually disrupts sleep.</p>
<p>4. <strong>Exercise regularly</strong>. Regular physical activity, especially aerobic exercise, can help you fall asleep faster and make your sleep more restful. However, for some people, exercising right before bed may make getting to sleep more difficult.</p>
<p>5. <strong>Make your bedroom cool, dark, quiet and comfortable</strong>. Create a room that’s ideal for sleeping. Adjust the lighting, temperature, humidity and noise level to your preferences. Use blackout curtains, eye covers, earplugs, extra blankets, a fan or white-noise generator, a humidifier or other devices to create an environment that suits your needs.</p>
<p>6. <strong>Sleep primarily at night</strong>. Daytime naps may steal hours from nighttime slumber. Limit daytime sleep to about a half-hour and make it during midafternoon. If you work nights, keep your window coverings closed so that sunlight, which adjusts the body’s internal clock, doesn’t interrupt your sleep. If you have a day job and sleep at night, but still have trouble waking up, leave the window coverings open and let the sunlight help awaken you.</p>
<p>7. <strong>Choose a comfortable mattress and pillow</strong>. Features of a good bed are subjective and differ for each person. But make sure you have a bed that’s comfortable. If you share your bed, make sure there’s enough room for two. Children and pets are often disruptive, so you may need to set limits on how often they sleep in bed with you.</p>
<p>8. <strong>Start a relaxing bedtime routine.</strong> Do the same things each night to tell your body it’s time to wind down. This may include taking a warm bath or shower, reading a book, or listening to soothing music. Relaxing activities done with lowered lights can help ease the transition between wakefulness and sleepiness.</p>
<p>9. <strong>Go to bed when you’re tired and turn out the lights</strong>. If you don’t fall asleep within 15 to 20 minutes, get up and do something else. Go back to bed when you’re tired. Don’t agonize over falling asleep. The stress will only prevent sleep.</p>
<p>10. <strong>Use sleeping pills only as a last resort</strong>. Check with your doctor before taking any sleep medications. He or she can make sure the pills won’t interact with your other medications or with an existing medical condition. Your doctor can also help you determine the best dosage. If you do take a sleep medication, reduce the dosage gradually when you want to quit, and never mix alcohol and sleeping pills. If you feel sleepy or dizzy during the day, talk to your doctor about changing the dosage or discontinuing the pills.</p>
<p>Nearly everyone has occasional sleepless nights. But if you have trouble sleeping on a regular or frequent basis, see your doctor. You could have a sleep disorder, such as obstructive sleep apnea or restless legs syndrome. Identifying and treating the cause of your sleep disturbance can help get you back on the road to a good night’s sleep.</p>

I have been dealing with a chronic Sciatic condition from a egenerated disc in my lower back for years. Not the best problem to have when you’re on your feet for 8 hrs a day working Security/Surveillance in a casino. </p>
<p>I have intermittent lower back stiffness and pain when I over stress myself.<br />
Occasionally when I stand for long periods of time I will experience a burning sensation in my leg. It runs inside the muscle of my thigh from the hip socket down about half way to the knee. Sometimes it’s the right side and sometimes it’s the left. The sensation is deep in the muscle close to the bone. There are times when it becomes so intense, it makes it difficult just to stand. </p>
<p>I have been trying different patch locations for this problem that I‘ve heard on conference calls with moderate to good relief. A few days ago I tried a new location with a tan patch over the hip joints on each side of the buttocks in the depression of the cheek. I think it is close to GB 30. The white patch I put at the base of the spine and above the tail bone. </p>
<p>I started this particular morning with minor stiffness and a little pain which I just didn’t want to be bothered with. About half way through the day I noticed a pain in my left hip joint which was increasing. Within about 10 minutes after that, the burning sensation started. About 20 minutes later, I was thinking about an early out because I really didn’t think I would make it through the rest of my shift. I decided to head to the restroom to move the white patch to the top of my right foot. I unlaced my shoe and put the white patch on top of my sock at the crown of my instep. </p>
<p>What was so amazing is before I could lace up my shoe, the burning sensation had stopped. The pain was gone in my hip. It was gone in seconds, not minutes. I worked the remainder of my shift completely pain free. I had heard similar testimonials on the calls but had never experienced it myself. It was just incredible. In fact if it hadn’t happened to me, I would have had a hard time believing my own testimonial. Even though my physical problem is not resolved, taking the pain out of the equation has renewed my commitment to this fantastic product. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>&#8220;I have been not sleeping good for about 8 years now. It started back in 1997 when I was experiencing the onset of age, stress, and peri-menopause. I have an uphill battle feeling well rested and energetic during the day. Most days I feel like I just want to crawl back in bed for a few hours, never quite felling like I got a goods night sleep… because I haven’t . </p>
<p>I am normally restless with my mind racing most of the night. I am up at least 2 or 3 times at night and usually cannot go back to sleep for an hour or more. So many nights I will not fall to sleep at all. After the 2nd night of not falling off to sleep I will take a sleeping pill to assure I will sleep on the 3rd night. When going to bed I feel like I could fall asleep, but when about to drop off something just keeps me from that final decent. It is very frustrating to want to go to sleep and not be able to. I know it has kept me from peak performance for years. </p>
<p>I was introduced to the sleep patch at the end of June 2005. I must admit that the first 3 nights I could not tell if they were working or not. But over the last several weeks of wearing them every night I can tell a definite difference in the quality of my sleep. It is a deeper sleep, a sounder sleep. I have been a very light sleeper and the slightest noise will wake me, now wearing the patch I can have a full nights sleep with out numerous wake ups. I still wake up now and then but I fall right back to sleep when I do. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Although even now sometimes viewed with skepticism in the West, acupuncture as a healing medium has been used for more than 4000 years. The oldest known medical text in the world still used today, The Canon of Medicine by Nei Jing describes the energy pathways or meridians along which the life waves travel. A major breakthrough in the acceptance of acupuncture by Western medicine came in 1998 when researchers at Fudan University were able to use an infrared spectrophotometer to, for the first time prove that acupuncture meridians do exist.</p>
<p>The basic theory behind Acupuncture is that when you are sick or in pain, the flow of energy is impeded and by means of acupuncture or acupressure you can restore balance to the meridians by unblocking them and thus restoring the body to full health. A nice analogy for the way this works is to imagine what happens when the lights in your house suddenly dim, that is the result of a drop in the flow of electricity, when the flow is restored the light go back to full power.</p>
<p>The drawback of acupuncture has always been the need to visit practitioners rooms and for many people the thought of having needles stuck into them was not exactly pleasant.</p>
<p>An exciting recent development is the innovative LifeWave acupuncture patch, a nanotechnology patch which contains a crystalline structure works on the acupuncture meridians, to produce various health related effects.</p>
<p>The patches which have an FDA medical device listing, contain patented nano structured biomolecular crystals which when activated by body heat start to oscillate, thereby producing specific energy waves which travel along the body meridians to transmit signals to the various target organs where they produce their balancing effect.</p>
<p>The patches are placed on known acupuncture points, where the skin has less than 1 sixth of the normal electrical resistance.</p>
<p>Acupressure patch technology is still really at an early stage so there are only a limited number of conditions for which there are available patches, but this technology is such a breakthrough that you can be certain many more will be developed.</p>
<p>Current applications are; the temporary relief of pain, lessening of sleep problems, help with managing weight loss, anti aging and increased energy production.</p>
<p>Interestingly, the patches caused a furore when a number of members of the US swim team were seen wearing them, resulting in an investigation by the USA and World doping agencies.</p>
<p>Fortunately, because nothing actually enters the bloodstream, the agencies decided that no action needed to be taken. After that it became quite common to see elite athletes from various sports and even racehorses wearing the patches.</p>
<p>For instance at the last Olympics company representatives announced there were more than 400 athletes from 11 different countries wearing the patches. Certainly there are many press photographs and magazine articles that seem to support these claims.</p>
